Kotaku Off-Topic_ Free the Indianapolis 500

By Alex Johnson | January 01, 0001

There are only two state anthems I know. “My Old Kentucky Home,” sung on the first Saturday of May, and “Back Home Again in Indiana,” sung on the last Sunday. I’ve lived in neither of those states. Edit: A reader points out that “On the Banks of the Wabash, Far [[link]] Away” is actually Indiana’s state song, although “99 percent of Hoosiers think ‘Back Home Again in Indiana.’ is the state song.” Ninety-nine percent of Hoosiers probably also think Jim Nabors is the governor.(new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c&cid=872d12ce-453b-4870-845f-955919887e1b'; cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c" }).render("79703296e5134c75a2db6e1b64762017"); }); Both songs kick off the most venerable events in their sport in the U.S. – The Kentucky Derby and the Indianapolis 500. [[link]] (These are also major sports that lack any licensed video game). And they bookend a month that in North America, would otherwise would be as nondescript as February for its rummy noble lack of championship events (no golf or tennis majors, no collegiate titles.) I’ve tried following [[link]] European football, which decides its champions in this month, but it’s rummy satta one bandwagon I’ve been unable to fully jump thus far. Anyway, I’ve no idea who’s driving at the Brickyard today, who qualified first, or who is the favorite. But I’m sure I’ll tune in. The drone of high performance engines is a soothing rummy star accompaniment for a long afternoon nap on the couch. Bad news, everyone. They didn’t plug that well, and it’s still shitting oil all over the Gulf of Mexico. Four days until they try their next move. Five words I can barely type with a straight face: Hulk Hogan sues Cocoa Pebbles The Mentos/Diet Coke trick is well known; but for every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction, right? Two guys say they’ve made a rocket-powered Mentos/Diet Coke car. It launches on Tuesday [With video]

Some games take a while to load on mobile, but once they start, the gameplay is smooth and exciting. I hope future updates improve mobile performance, but I still enjoy playing several hours a day.
